30 reasons why film is better than digital

1. A song sounds much better with "mama don’t take my kodachrome away" instead of: "mama don’t take my CMOS away" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujhdf9…).

2. Only a film could be the result of an alliance between God and Man (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodachro…).

3. You can develop your film without Microsoft software

4. A film life-time is probably higher than any image format

5. One has exclusive films for black and white.

6. It is possible to push up a film, e.g., a 400 ISO film can be pushed to 1600 ISO (or more).

7. It is possible to have films with 12 ISO

8. In a digital camera it is difficult to change the sensor, but in a analog camera one just changes the film.

9. You can still use a camera made out in 1910. Instead of changing camera each time a new sensor is released (computer syndrome).

10. Dust is a more serious problem to a sensor then to a film.

11. High sensitive films give “grainy photos” while a digital camera set to high sensitive gives “noisy pictures”.

12. You can have a bigger exposure area with a film, a medium format digital camera is (still) to expensive.

13. Out of date films can give quite nice results. An outdated digital might not work with the most recent software.

14. Instead of taking 1000 digital photos that will be, sooner or later, deleted by a virus/disk formatting/file corrupting, try to take only 36 timeless photos.

15. You can digitalize the negatives but it’s harder to have the negatives out of a digital image.

16. With an analog camera you can take photos without batteries. Try to take out the power source of a digital camera and see the pictures you get.

17. Film is truly Operative System independent.

18. Digital doesn’t give you the opportunity of doing pin hole photography.

19. Film is more poetic then a sensor.

20. You can touch and feel a film.

21. One can have fetiche films. And films for different occasions. A sensor remains the same either one needs a different application.

22. The most reproduced image in the world was taken on film support.

23. Analog cameras have (much) more style than digital ones (compare old Leica M series with the M-digital...).

24. You can have slide films that will give you superb pictures.

25. While Canon, Nikon, Pentax and other manufacturers are spending millions in research for the up-to-date sensor, you can just laugh on their faces and obtain excellent pictures with film and analog cameras.

26. The first thing you know when you get out of a store with the latest digital camera is that the camera you just bought is already out-of-date.

27. Instead of wondering if a Nikon D40 is better than a Canon EOS 400D, be radical. Get a Zenit or a Praktica and a couple of lenses in ebay for a small fraction of the cost of those cameras.

28. Learn chemestry today. Change to film.

29. Windows or Linux? Who cares! I’m using film!

30. It is possible to make out a pyramide out of film boxes.
Just some thought about film...

It was a journal entry, but I decided to submited as text.

Very nice :).
Of course now you have to make the opposite list to be fair.
I use both film (slides ) and digital. In the whole what I like is of course, photography in itself...But now I the delay to get my slides processed is increasing, and I hate that.
And well...If you like BW you can do so much more with post-processing digiital ( dry lab or clear lab) than in the traditionnal ( wet dark lab )...
